7-20-12 The six thieves

Our six thieves are our ability to see, hear, taste, feel, our body and our mind.

These are what drives our desires, attachments, and our perception which left unchecked and unchanged will hurt us and make us unhappy, depressed, and all sorts of human maladies. I looked up the synonyms for malady (ailment, bug, complaint, complication, condition, disorder, illness, infirmity, disease, sickness, trouble). We, as a race of humans, have become complacent and far to willing to accept our condition as what is.

The good news is that we also have a spiritual mind that we can choose to access and use to reverse all the effects of our maladies. Unhappiness and letting our thieves steal our natural joy need not be. It takes the sorting out process to keep what you want and to discard what you don’t want. We are in control and if it does not feel like you are in control, start by going within and choose just one thought to re-think and change to begin the clearing out and purifying process toward true happiness.

Just take a look at the consciousness of the world. In the sixty thousand years we have been on this earth the human mind with all it’s education and knowledge is still in a pickle. The way of the world is not getting us there. It’s going to take something else. I’m proposing another way along with many others who have and are telling us there is another, better way. If you do not do this, whatever you know will turn into empty theories and be of no benefit; not beneficial to you nor to others, they will remain empty theories.

7-13-12 No judgement day

This is a red-letter day for me. Because of that I woke up this morning and decided this would be a no judgement day for me.  Man, oh Fridays, my mind is like a tape on auto-rewind.  I'm catching so many sick, sad, and sorry judgments.  I have to say that I'm grateful those sick, sad and sorry thoughts are not as sick, sad and sorry as they used to be before I started going to my Tao discussion group.  My happiness really grew into what I get to experience now from that point when this precious gift was given to me.

Most of what I post in the blog come from that discussion group where my Tao kin and I share our spiritual journey.  I always amazes me how our individual experiences are helpful to to others.  We really are all alike in so many ways.

If you are interested in checking out a Tao discussion group in your area and don't know where, email me dorisandabby@clearwire.net and tell me what city and I'll try to find one for you.

I am working on a new posting which I will put up later today or tomorrow.

7-10-12 Telling my ego “NO!”

Lately I’ve been telling myself no in order to change my habits to create a character that is more in line with my true nature (my eternal self). This act of saying no to myself is being met with resistance or what it feels like is my ego throwing a tantrum.

In my studies I recently learned, and I’m quoting, “In cultivating, we carry forward to further development the light and radiance of our Original Nature on the one hand, and cleanse our own stains (the pull of karma) on the other hand.” MENTAL ACTIVITIES = ACTION = HABIT = CHARACTER = DESTINY

The pull of karma has a force in itself; this force is very powerful and hard to defy. When we turn our light and intention more often inwardly to reflect upon yourself to see what of our actions and habits are standing in the way of real change, which will produce real happiness, to make the change or not to make the change should be judged by wisdom. Do not make any decision based on your selfish desires and dislikes. Do not use your own interest as the criterion. Once there is a beginning to an interest, there will be an end to it. Interests fluctuates according to your state of mind.

Whether we are happy or we think of ourselves as suffering, everything is related to our state of mind not to material goods or power. Have you ever heard the saying, “Don’t sweat the small stuff and it is all small stuff.” The reason this works is and why we can take things lightly is because they will eventually come to nothing. All THINGS in the world are void and empty. Happiness, self-worth, and self realization are not dependant on THINGS, FAME OR POWER!

7-7-12 Breaking habit for more happiness

Sow a habit, and you will reap the character of a habit. Habit is extrinsic to you; it is the way you do things. Even though it is within the scope of action of your physical body, it is on the ouside of your mind; whereas, character has, in fact, already become part of your yourself since is it on the inside of your heart. Once you have this particular character, you will do everything  according to this character, and it will become the basis for the things you do and the course of events that take place in the future. If this character is maintained at all times, subject to no corrections or changes, it will grow into your destiny, and you entire life will be dictated by this destiy. On the contrary, when you choose to take responsibility for real change you will become master of your fate and your destiny.
