This was sent to me and I'm posting it because it speaks of stopping  being so consumed with plans and letting ourselves work for good and happiness. Let's get out of our own way this next year and allow the plan that came with us to manifest for us.

"Friends are God's way of taking care of us."
This was written by a Metro Denver Hospice Physician:

I was driving home from a meeting this evening about 5, stuck in traffic on Colorado Blvd., and the car started to choke and splutter and die - I barely managed to coast, cursing, into a gas station, glad only that I would not be blocking traffic and would have a somewhat warm spot to wait for the tow truck. It wouldn't even turn over. Before I could make the call, I saw a woman walking out of the "quickie mart " building, and it looked like she slipped on some ice and fell into a Gas pump, so I got out to see if she was okay

When I got there, it looked more like she had been overcome by sobs than that she had fallen; she was a young woman who looked really haggard with dark circles under her eyes. She dropped something as I helped her up, and I picked it up to give it to her. It was a nickel.

At that moment, everything came into focus for me: the crying woman, the ancient Suburban crammed full of stuff with 3 kids in the back (1 in a car seat), and the gas pump reading $4.95.

I asked her if she was okay and if she needed help, and she just kept saying " don't want my kids to see me crying," so we stood on the other side of the pump from her car. She said she was driving to California and that things were very hard for her right now. So I asked, "And you were praying?" That made her back a away from me a little, but I assured her I was not a crazy person and said, "He heard you, and He sent me."

I took out my card and swiped it through the card reader on the pump so she could fill up her car completely, and while it was fuelling, walked to the next door McDonald's and bought 2 big bags of food, some gift certificates for more, and a big cup of coffee. She gave the food to the kids in the car, who attacked it like wolves, and we stood by the pump eating fries and talking a little.

She told me her name, and that she lived in Kansas City Her boyfriend left 2 months ago and she had not been able to make ends meet. She knew she wouldn't have money to pay rent Jan 1, and finally in desperation had finally called her parents, with whom she had not spoken in about 5 years. They lived in California and said she could come live with them and try to get on her feet there.

So she packed up everything she owned in the car. She told the kids they were going to California for Christmas, but not that they were going to live there.

I gave her my gloves, a little hug and said a quick prayer with her for safety on the road. As I was walking over to my car, she said, "So, are you like an angel or something?"

This definitely made me cry. I said, "Sweetie, at this time of year angels are really busy, so sometimes God uses regular people."

It was so incredible to be a part of someone else's miracle. And of course, you guessed it, when I got in my car it started right away and got me home with no problem. I'll put it in the shop tomorrow to check, but I suspect the mechanic won't find anything wrong.

Sometimes the angels fly close enough to you that you can hear the flutter of their wings...

Psalms 55:22 "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee. He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."

12-21-12 Doing the Non Doing

The world admonishes us to have a plan, make goals, work toward our dreams.
This state of doing for our own good is good and never questioned.

When a person is wanting complete happiness it requires a letting go of our programmed beliefs. In other words, what we have been taught as normal and for our best interests.

True happiness takes getting out of our own way and allowing the plan that came with us into this world happen. This is easier said than done. Plans have a way of falling down in mid-flight. Have you ever experienced those times with your life just happens? When an unexpected event moves us onto a different path.

I read a story about the author of the book “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”. How he came to write this book which took him from poverty to wealth all because his wife died and he drained his savings in medical bills. He was always picked on as a kid because he was small and different. So he made up this story to tell his daughter based on his growing up. We just don’t know what’s going to happen and what the results of that might be for us.

A selfless act can only be performed by someone in an egoless state. Every act performed by someone in the usual way of things has some kind of reward attached whether it is financial, power, love, status or just feeling good about oneself. All these things are ego re-inforcing. To perform a selfless act one must let go of one's ego and pass into an enlightened state of consciousness. This is called wu wei – the state of doing without doing. Here every act is selfless for the ego has ceased to exist. There is no I making decisions and the outcome is always perfect.

'Doing' good means those intentional actions taken to benefit us or actions taken to change the world from its natural state and evolution.

To pass into an enlightened state of consciousness one diminishes doing. Doing all those actions committed against the already present natural harmony. Having arrived at this pointless point of non-action, there is nothing that is left undone. It is upon achievement of this Chinese equivalent to 'enlightenment' that we begin to perform wei wu wei, or action without action (doing the non doing). Thus we will be able to work in harmony with the already natural order to accomplish what is needed, and, working in perfect harmony with the already natural harmony, leave no trace of having done it.

Have a wonderful happy holiday season.

11-1-12 Is what we see the absolute truth?

Perception is a mirror, not a fact. And what I look on is my state of my own mind, reflected outward. Our eyes are the tools used to see with. Once what we are looking at goes past the eyes, it is interpreted by our minds to matchup with whatever our own mind has been programmed to think about what it is we are looking at based on how we see ourselves. Try a test; while in the presence of someone else, even better with two or more, watch the news together and pick one of the news pieces and describe what that looks like to you and what it means to you and have each one of them do the same.  You will find that there may be some similarities but each a little different view. Another case in point; what actions speak love to you compared to how love speaks to someone else. I read a study once that categorized how love is expressed to different types of people:  i.e., people who need to hear the words to believe, people who need to be touched to believe, people who need to perform acts (like cleaning or cooking) to believe. If two different types get together, there are problems in conveying love to each other. They each have to learn to speak love in their partners way of believing to be successful.

What we seem to perceive outside is not a fact, but a reflection of our own state of mind. The
value of the world. special relationships -- our bodily preoccupations -- have only one true purpose: to remind us that what we are seeing outside is nothing more than how we think and feel inside.
Everyone sees only what he thinks he is. What each one of think is a sum total of our experiences and what we made of those experiences. Yes, we were certainly told who we are by our peer group (parents, family, class-mates, friends, etc.), which actually was that person imposing his perception of what he thought he was on you.  This truth is what makes forgiveness possible (it wasn't really about you, it was about them.)

I feel like I've been many different people in my life-time. This is because I am always in the state of changing.  I get new information in and I apply that new information to what I think I believe which changes what I think I believe which in turn changes what I think I am seeing and my experience of this world.

There is no reason to be stuck. Be like the tree that bends in the wind. Seek out new information and analyze it, keeping what you want and getting rid of what you don't want.

10 ways to improve your happiness

10-13-12 I found this link in one of Oprah's newletters and decided to give you the link because it relates to happiness:

10-27-12 Karma (Cause and Effect)

I have written about cause and effect before. I feel that cause and effect is the core of our human experience and should be stated and restated until we can truly be aware and live within that awareness.

I believe in past lives which I have also stated before. Lately, I’ve been experiencing a kind of unhappy force affecting me. I don’t know very much about karma which led me to ask questions about it. One of my friends sent me some documents to read on the subject. I’m going to share part of my research with you because it’s apropos to this blog. I do not know the author; therefore, I cannot give credit:

“Karma” is both action and the consequence of that action; it is cause and effect simultaneously, because every action generates a force of energy that returns to us in like kind.

“What you sow is what you reap.” If we want to create happiness in our lives, we must learn to sow the seeds of happiness. Therefore, karma implies the action of conscious choice-making.

In every moment of our existence, we have access to an infinity of choices. Some of these choices are made consciously, while others are made unconsciously. We should become consciously aware of the choices we make in every moment. Whether you like it or not, everything that is happening at this moment is a result of the choices you’ve made in the past. Unfortunately, a lot of us make choices unconsciously.

If I were to insult you, you would most likely make the choice of being offended. If I were to pay you a compliment, you would most likely make the choice of being pleased or flattered. It’s still a choice. I could offend you and I could insult you, and you could make the choice of not being offended. I could pay you a compliment and you could make the choice of not letting that flatter you either.

Even though we are infinite choice-makers, we have become bundles of reflexes that are constantly being triggered by people and circumstances into predictable outcomes of behavior.

Our reactions seem to be automatically triggered by people and circumstances, and we forget that these are still choices that we are making in every moment of our existence. We are simply making these choices unconsciously.

If you step back for a moment and witness the choices you are making as you make those choices, then in just this act of witnessing, you take the whole process from the unconscious realm into the conscious realm. This procedure of conscious choice-making and witnessing is very empowering.

When you make any choice—any choice at all—you can ask yourself two things: First all, “What are the consequences of this choice I’m making?” In your heart you will immediately know what these are. Secondly, “will this choice that I’m making now bring happiness to me and to those around me?” If the answer is yes, then go ahead with that choice. (This choice works out Karma that matches.) If the answer is no, if that choice brings distress either to you or to those around you, then don’t make that choice. (This choice creates Karma.”

10-16-12 Saying Yes when you want to say No

So many of us say yes when we want to say no. I used to do that and it is a place where I would blame the other person because they should know better.

I’ll use this example:

While I was going through my divorce to the father of my two daughters, a friend with her three children moved in for a while. Her children were younger than mine. We lived together quite well except she would wash one of her large rugs in my washing machine.

I did not want her to do that because I was afraid the machine would not be able to handle that big rug without breaking down. This was an issue for me, but I just couldn’t bring myself to ask her to wash that rug at a laundromat. I know this seems really silly, but I think it is a good representation of how we fall into these kind of situations.

I was finally able to ask her to take her not to wash her rug in my machine. She was fine with it. I was so surprised once I finally got the nerve up to ask her how easy it was.

This then led to many other situations where I used to say yes, when I wanted to say no.

It took time before I took complete responsibility for my own state of mind and was able to finally always say exactly what I meant. I could not believe how scary it was to ask her. I really fretted over this until I was able to ask her. There were many other situations that I have fretted over telling someone like my boss or my co-worker exactly what I meant to say. I can honestly say, now, I have no problem speaking my mind in a kind way always taking into consideration the other persons dignity.

If I don’t want to say what I mean in a kind way, then, I look inside myself what my real issue is and I always find the issue is my own perception. I ask for help in choosing for God. The help is always instantly there and I am surprised and how simple the answer is.

Another example of this is when my husband asked me for a divorce, I was clueless that he was not happy.
He is a really nice chap and he was doing all the thinking and feeling for me and could not bring himself to
express what he was unhappy about.  During counseling, I found out that he had been unhappy for a long time and was not able to say anything about it because he was just too nice of a guy.

We could have saved out marriage if he would have been able to tell me what he was feeling. I would have tried to change whatever needed changed or we could have went to counseling long before he got to the point of no return for himself.  He was not being a "nice guy" by not being able to express what was wrong, he was being cruel because it ended our marriage and hurt our children.  He beat himself up over his inability to say what he was feeling for three years before he realized that we did not need to get divorced.  It was too late for me and there was another woman involved.

10-11-12 We can literally stop our suffering.

I received a verision of this in my email.  The words are not mine, I just changed them to fit the subject of this blog.

I can elect to change all thoughts that are the cause for any hurt or fear or pain and suffering.

I can be hurt by nothing but my thoughts." Since these hurtful thoughts were chosen by me, I can now elect -- i.e., choose -- to change them.*

Loss is not loss when properly perceived. Pain is impossible. There is
no grief with any cause at all. And suffering of any kind is nothing but a
dream. These words are the truth but very few will ever process to be able to truly know
the truth of these words.

Loss, pain, grief, and suffering are made up and believed, practiced, never questioned in this world of form. . Because we are eternal beings and created by “LOVE”, we can
laugh at sickness, starvation, poverty, and death. We laugh, not because we are
making fun of ourselves or others who are in pain, but because of the silliness
in believing that a part of God could wrench itself from Him and therefore
suffer. Our deep investment in pain and grief blocks us from the pure estactic joy of
living in complete peace, understanding the purety of our creation.

This is the truth, at first to be but said and then repeated many
times; and next to be accepted as but partly true, with many reservations. Then
to be considered seriously more and more, and finally accepted as the truth.

*Jesus traces the course of everyone’s process. First we read the words and say them over and over, struggling to understand them. We then attempt to accept
their truth -- perhaps they are true, but not all the time -- and even if we
believe intellectually they are true, our daily lives certainly do not
demonstrate that belief. Yet Jesus understands we are not going to accept this
immediately, for it is a process spanning many, many years, not simply months.

In fact, this truth goes directly against everything we believe and
stand for as separate entities. Thus considerable time and hard work are
required to admit gratefully -- albeit begrudgingly at first -- we were wrong
about everything, especially the person we think we see in our bathroom mirror
every morning. When we finally accept our mistake -- and Jesus does not mean our
intellectual acceptance -- we are in the real world, for we have learned
everything our teacher can teach us.

Here’s the affirmation that was suggested you could use to help you with this change of mind:
“I can elect to change all thoughts that hurt. And I would go beyond these words today, and past all reservations, and arrive at full acceptance of the truth in them."

If you pray, here is the suggested prayer: "Father, what You have given cannot hurt, so grief and pain must be impossible. Let me not fail to trust in You today, accepting but the joyous as Your gifts; accepting but the joyous as the truth."

10-9-12  Insecurities

It's been a while since I have had something to say. I've been reflecting, just have not felt ready to produce.

My subject today is experiencing feelings of insecurity.  It seems most everyone I know has both confidence and insecurities.  I'm going to judge that this is probably normal.  I have some friends that are arrogant, which I've been told is the mind's way of denying insecurity by being boastful on the outside but still terrified that someone will find out they are really extremely insecure.

I have some insecurities which mostly are experienced at my job.  It will be interesting to see if they no longer exist when I retire in 6 months.  I always feel insecure when I'm in the company of anyone who seems to know anything that I do not know much about.  This happens quite often, but I tend to be attracted to information about the things I'm interested in.  In other words, there are many areas that I don't have any opinions or knowledge about because I haven't sought it out.

Having confidence in yourself about your abilities and not letting someone else's opinion about your abilities is the key to happiness.  I think you can have good self esteem and still be insecure in some areas of your life.

The feeling of being insecure means that you have thoughts that have generated the insecurity. This  wonderful news because your thoughts are totally under your control as soon as you realize it and seek out changing your thoughts to rid yourself of the insecurity.  I ceratainly like knowing that my insecurity is not real that it is just a manifestation of my own incorrect thinking about myself.  This incorret thinking may be a result of some past experience where I perceived I was under verbal attack or I allowed someone else's words be the source I took upon myself which created my insecurity. I just like knowing that it's all under my control. I may not be able to correct my thinking immediately, it might take some long periods of introspect.

I will probably have more to say on this subject, but I have to close for now.

Non Interference in the Lives of Others

It's been a whole year since I began blogging. I'm impressed that I actually stuck with it. Yea! for me!

I remember reading somewhere by some famous author that writes "self help" books, I don't recall who, to have peace of mind it's important to not interfere in other peoples lives.

I have two grown daughters, a son-in-law and some close friends and I found myself voicing my opinion (judgement) about how they could do something they were doing much better, if they would do it my way.

My children did not want my advise and my friends just pushed back. I spent many frustrated hours in my own mind obsessing over this.  I finally realized that this judgment or opinion was coming from MY mind making it real only for myself.  Perception can be a harsh task-master.

Once I embraced my own eternal nature and the eternal nature of everyone else, letting go of interfering with my opinions and judgements became the way for me. Since I am here stumbling through this thing called life, then so is everyone else. No other human has my perception and I have no clue about anyone else's perception.  We really cannot completely know what someone else is thinking.

Since I believe that we are all here to learn and change, then how can I possibly know what anyone else has to do to accomplish their learning and changing.  It's not my job. We are family and freinds to be supportive and that meant to me to be supportive without judgment knowing that the people and situations in their life is for their learning not mine.

Once I finally got it, I understood why the result would be peace of mind.  Focusing on my own learning is a big enough job without taking on my perception of what someone else should or should not do.

Someone else's failure may just become their own personal victory.

8-19-12 Gratitude

It's been awhile since I've added any new posts. I've been inside myself, reflecting and witnessing. The last two days, I've been very happy with no tangible thing to say this has been the reason. I just am happy.  I've been reinforcing with my reflection how taken care of I am.  My gratitude is overflowing.

You see, I totally believe in heaven's essence guiding and blessing me even in ways that may sound the opposite of blessing.  I learned a long time ago that if something comes up in my life that seems like a negative, that it really is a blessing.  Even though I may not rejoice right away, I do get there. I may not understand why that paticular person or event was necessary for my growth/change, but the change happens and it is always for my eternal happiness. My goal for this life-time is constant rejoicing.

I truly wish I could wrap this believe up in a pretty gift box and give it to everyone that would take the time to open it. Even it they may not be ready to receive the gift, the intent is still there. It will manifest later.

I cannot stress enough how important gratitude is to your happiness. If you suffer from depression, I believe you can find one thing about yourself or your surroundings that you like. Pick that one thing and be grateful for that. It could just be you like to shape and size of your big toe.  Get up and go wash your face. Then be grateful that you can get to the sink, that you have a wash cloth and there is water to wash your beautiful face with. This little bit of gratitude will begin to shine.  No darkness can withstand in shine.

It's really true that anyone can live in this world within an aurora of happiness.

7-20-12 The six thieves

Our six thieves are our ability to see, hear, taste, feel, our body and our mind.

These are what drives our desires, attachments, and our perception which left unchecked and unchanged will hurt us and make us unhappy, depressed, and all sorts of human maladies. I looked up the synonyms for malady (ailment, bug, complaint, complication, condition, disorder, illness, infirmity, disease, sickness, trouble). We, as a race of humans, have become complacent and far to willing to accept our condition as what is.

The good news is that we also have a spiritual mind that we can choose to access and use to reverse all the effects of our maladies. Unhappiness and letting our thieves steal our natural joy need not be. It takes the sorting out process to keep what you want and to discard what you don’t want. We are in control and if it does not feel like you are in control, start by going within and choose just one thought to re-think and change to begin the clearing out and purifying process toward true happiness.

Just take a look at the consciousness of the world. In the sixty thousand years we have been on this earth the human mind with all it’s education and knowledge is still in a pickle. The way of the world is not getting us there. It’s going to take something else. I’m proposing another way along with many others who have and are telling us there is another, better way. If you do not do this, whatever you know will turn into empty theories and be of no benefit; not beneficial to you nor to others, they will remain empty theories.

7-13-12 No judgement day

This is a red-letter day for me. Because of that I woke up this morning and decided this would be a no judgement day for me.  Man, oh Fridays, my mind is like a tape on auto-rewind.  I'm catching so many sick, sad, and sorry judgments.  I have to say that I'm grateful those sick, sad and sorry thoughts are not as sick, sad and sorry as they used to be before I started going to my Tao discussion group.  My happiness really grew into what I get to experience now from that point when this precious gift was given to me.

Most of what I post in the blog come from that discussion group where my Tao kin and I share our spiritual journey.  I always amazes me how our individual experiences are helpful to to others.  We really are all alike in so many ways.

If you are interested in checking out a Tao discussion group in your area and don't know where, email me and tell me what city and I'll try to find one for you.

I am working on a new posting which I will put up later today or tomorrow.

7-10-12 Telling my ego “NO!”

Lately I’ve been telling myself no in order to change my habits to create a character that is more in line with my true nature (my eternal self). This act of saying no to myself is being met with resistance or what it feels like is my ego throwing a tantrum.

In my studies I recently learned, and I’m quoting, “In cultivating, we carry forward to further development the light and radiance of our Original Nature on the one hand, and cleanse our own stains (the pull of karma) on the other hand.” MENTAL ACTIVITIES = ACTION = HABIT = CHARACTER = DESTINY

The pull of karma has a force in itself; this force is very powerful and hard to defy. When we turn our light and intention more often inwardly to reflect upon yourself to see what of our actions and habits are standing in the way of real change, which will produce real happiness, to make the change or not to make the change should be judged by wisdom. Do not make any decision based on your selfish desires and dislikes. Do not use your own interest as the criterion. Once there is a beginning to an interest, there will be an end to it. Interests fluctuates according to your state of mind.

Whether we are happy or we think of ourselves as suffering, everything is related to our state of mind not to material goods or power. Have you ever heard the saying, “Don’t sweat the small stuff and it is all small stuff.” The reason this works is and why we can take things lightly is because they will eventually come to nothing. All THINGS in the world are void and empty. Happiness, self-worth, and self realization are not dependant on THINGS, FAME OR POWER!

7-7-12 Breaking habit for more happiness

Sow a habit, and you will reap the character of a habit. Habit is extrinsic to you; it is the way you do things. Even though it is within the scope of action of your physical body, it is on the ouside of your mind; whereas, character has, in fact, already become part of your yourself since is it on the inside of your heart. Once you have this particular character, you will do everything  according to this character, and it will become the basis for the things you do and the course of events that take place in the future. If this character is maintained at all times, subject to no corrections or changes, it will grow into your destiny, and you entire life will be dictated by this destiy. On the contrary, when you choose to take responsibility for real change you will become master of your fate and your destiny.

6-26-12 Yellow Brick Road

I read in a book years ago called, “From Onions to Pearls”. The author used the metaphor of the “yellow brick road” (he did not call it that, this is the name I used to for own entertainment) for the path/plan that was already laid out in front of us when we arrived on earth for our current human experience. He said, “It doesn’t matter how much you practice or changing your mind in your quest for supreme spirituality, you will not get there until you step on that particular brick.” Each brick represents a passage in our individual process. I took what he said to heart and filed it away in my mind.

Today I believe that I have stepped on one of those bricks. I feel light-hearted, with good will toward everyone. I feel like the practicing I’ve spent years doing changing my mind about what I believe and what I want to believe had set the stage for this new freedom I’m experiencing. Be assured that all my effort would not have produced anything good if it wasn’t for the grace of Jesus Christ and his constant companionship. I have a quiet, warm, happy countenance today and a wish for all mankind to experience this.

Thanks for your support, whoever you are.

6-21-12 Happiness and Integrity

The state of happiness is inter-related with your integrity. What is integrity:

Giving an honest days work for a days pay.
Practicing a likeable attitude in all your endeavors.
Keeping the promises you can keep and asking for
foregiveness on the ones you cannot keep.
Communicating your feelings to promote healthy
Keeping your judgements to yourself or, even better,
is changing your mind regarding your judgements to purify
                    your thoughts and words.
Be as honest and forthright in all your dealing as you
possibly can. (This one changes as you process).
                    Being respectful to all people.

Your integrity cannot be for sale under any circumstances.

This list is meant to be a starter to your thought processes.  I'm quite sure your list will be much better.

6-11-12 Allowing for help

I remembered a book I read that was written by a person that had a life after death experience. He wrote, while he was out of his body, he was taken on a tour of heaven. While there is witnessed people building a device that he knew the world had never seen before.   After he was brought back into his body and it was some years later, he was reading a scientific magazine about a new very exciting invention which he recognized as the exact same device he witnessed being built in heaven.

Since I read that book, I have a theory that there is a milky way like mass of ideas, inventions, inspiration, music, art, etc. floating above us.  When one of us humans stops the noise of the world for a moment to ask "why" or "I wonder" or just gets silent that a metaphorical split happens in our skull that allows some of the mass to enter our mind and become a new thought process.  This thought process then allows us to accomplish something new for us and something that will benefit our world at large.  It's just my silly theory.

As long as we whirl and dance with the world we are all in, any change that happens for us is ego based. It will benefit you and the world to just take a moment once in a while and step off into eternity which we are all of.  I'm sure you have heard the saying, "We are in this world but not of this world."

All change and improvements that have happened in the world since it's beginning have come for the force that created it.  The timing has been perfect and if some form of destruction does happen, that timing will also be perfect.

I have stated all along in my postings that we are all eternal beings having a human experience. The key word here being "eternal".

Change the world 6-6-12

Taking responsibility for your own happiness is so much larger than just how much happier you are. It also effects the world around you.

The calmer and more peaceful you become not only makes a difference to your family, friends, and co-workers who will notice but can actually change the state of the present world.  You become the voice of reason in this madcapped crazy world.  All you have to do is watch some of the reality TV that is airing. The drama is real people that represent just how crazy this world is.  Wow, it not only makes me sad for each one of them, but even sadder to know the only reason they are on TV is because there is an audience. This can't be good.

You can be the example for peace and a better way of living.  There is the collective thought stream that can be brought to better outcomes and better thinking that you will contribute towards. The disasters of this world can actually be less when the collective thought stream becomes compassionate and healthy.

Our whole purpose to be here in this world at this time is to bring about change. That change starts within each of us but cannot help but spill out to bring about change in the world.  With wars, rumors of wars, genocide, murder, selfishness at a critical state, the break- down of the family unit and distrust in our government the need for change is great. It's seems impossible, but I guarantee that when you begin with yourself, each one of your successes creates a butterfly effect.

"If you could change your destiny, would you?"  I heard this line from a trailer for a new animated movie called "Brave".  It caused me to think about whether or not I would try to change my destiny.

There are three levels of the human mind (this information is readily availabe): Unconscious mind, Subconscious mind and Conscious mind.

In order to make any changes within yourself it is mandatory to understand how the human mind works.
Once you understand it, you can take control of your mind and make real change in your life thus changing your destiny.

First level is the Unconscious mind. This level the human mind holds the control of the basic functions of the human body, breathing, heart beating, digestion, reflexes, ... Basically, it controls all automatic functions, without need to think about it. Also stored in this level of mind are seeds from past lives.  Knowledge of our own perfection is accessed from here.

Second level is Subconscious mind. This level contains all knowledge, experience, habits, beliefs and attitudes toward life. What ever we met and learned in our life is placed in this level, in our personal library. Every second of your life is recorded in this segment of mind. The thing about this level is that our subconscious mind cannot differentiate between what is real and what is a dream or just a visual experience like when we watch a movie or television depending on the strength of the emotion we attached to that experience.

Third level of human mind is the Conscious mind. This is analytical part of the mind that analysis all data that comes in. Also this part of mind is filtering information that comes to the subconscious mind. Actually, the Conscious mind is aligned with what is already formed as attitude or belief in Subconscious mind. If the new information is in conflict with information that is already stored in Subconscious mind, the Conscious mind tends to block that information. This is why people seem to be difficult to change. More information already stored in Subconscious mind makes new information that is in conflict with current information to be rejected. When we are in conversation with someone the conscious mind is pulling from the subconscious mind to determine our reaction based on what is stored.

The key to change is to become the observor as well as the communicator. If we feel a reaction come to the surface that we do not like or choose to follow through on, it is right there at that moment we can begin to change.  Over the period of our human existence old information has new information added to it.  Like our process of education.  We become smarter (obtaining a wider range of information).  Our learning process and taught us to say and do things differently depending on past outcomes of our actions. We see how the law of cause and effect works and use it to help us live proactive.

When I learned that my behavor (my reaction) is a result of my beliefs stored in my Subconscious mind and the Subconscious mind being a storage center, I learned that I needed to change my belief connected to that particular reaction to change my reaction.  Let me explain it this way; I would tell you that I am not prejudice. Yet, I have caught myself reacting with prejudice. This tells me that I have a prejudice believe stored in my subconscious mind.  The subconscious mind can be altered in order to alter my reaction.  When this particular situation occurs, I can say to myself, "yes, but I've learned.....". In this way I am taking control of the reaction in my Conscious mind and choose a different reaction. Over time by choosing this new reaction, I actually replace the old belief of prejudice to a belief on non-prejudice based on newer information.  Here's another example:  I lived with a girl friend in her house for six years and we are very different people.  At first, I did not like the way she wanted to decorate to the point of getting angry if I made a flower arrangement for the table and she took it apart and remade it to her liking.  I made a choice to believe that her feelings were more important to me that how the flower arrangement looked. I replaced whatever it was in my subconscious mind with a better way to approach the situation because I did not like being angry over such a silly thing.

There is one more level of mind that is not of the human mind which completely transforms the other levels and that is the level of true nature.  Our eternal being that only has a capacity of love and compassion. The level of pure light consciousness. Once awakened to this deep profound level that we can change our fate.

As I was pondering what to put in my post for today, I was reminded of an essay I wrote in college on the relativity of time.

How does this subject relate to happiness?  Time seems to always be an issue.
I hear myself and others say,
"There just isn't enough time to get everything done."
"I wasted all this time, working, being in this special relationship, crying, watching television."
"I gave all my time and energy to...."
"If I could go backwards, I would use my time more efficiently."

How we perceive time does affect the degree of happiness we expereience.

Time is a man-made concept. You would argue that time is not a concept but reality. The reason I use the word concept is because like the rest of my writings time exists only in the world and, therefore, seems like the truth.  We grow older from younger, our calendar denotes the passage of time, and we run our lives based on what time it is.  If you were stuck in a mine waiting to be resuced and could not see the sky, you could be stuck there for days and when you were rescued, you would not know how many days you were down there.

In our true nature, time does not exist.  This is really hard to wrap our human minds around and there is really no reason to even try except for how it applies to our thoughts about our time spent which can make a difference in our happiness.

I'm not going to re-write my essay here, I'm just bringing up time for your consideration. Are you someone who dwells in the past and lets the past into your present moment.  The times of our past can alter our future.

I maintain that our purpose here, in our human experience, is to learn and to grow to a higher plane of consciousness. Our thoughts about time and help or hinder that growth.

A God Connection 4-27-12

It is my opinion that any connection one has to God is good.

I was raised Southern Baptist, then I became a Catholic for love, after that I was a Morman for 10 years.
Since I was ex-communicated from the Morman Church, I've been studying many different resources to understand my connection to God and what is going to work the best for me to progress.  I have taken on the theory that the whole spirituality choice is a process.

Whatever form your spiritual process takes is good as long as you are enjoying happiness there.  My son-in-law is an atheist. He is also naturally good and spreads a loving compassionate air in all phases of his life.  I see nothing wrong in that.  His connection is to what's natural within him without the need to verbally align himself with any outside connection.

Look at your arm and your five fingers.  It's like your arm is God or your higher power and your five fingers represent the five major religions.  They all come from the same source and they all adhere to loving the same God, but each form has it's own way of connecting.  One way will work for some people and other ways work for others.

We humans really cannot conceive of the Love that is bestowed upon us from God. We can't qualify, quantify or explain in words.

Is there really a right way or a wrong way? I choose to believe that we are all right where we are at now, and as we process we will always be right.

To borrow words from a song, "That's my story and I'm sticking to it".

Ever heard the saying, "Man's inhumanity to man"?  History and our current world status certainly proves this saying to be ture.  So much hate, so much violence towards each other, even when not in a war.

There is a truth about each and every one of us and that truth is that because of our eternal being within our true nature is compassionate. The problem is that our true nature is covered up with desires, attachments, ego, and our acceptance that to hate and to fear other human beings is the way it is.  Very few people are even aware of their true nature.

What can be done about this inhumanity?  The power that rules the universe has an eventual plan to take care of this, but that could take another 10,000 years.  What can be done now? What can you do?

Each of us can embrace our true nature and allow it to be awakened.  Once awakened, our natural compassion will begin to be our frame of reference for all our decisions and actions. This will begin a ripple effect that can and will influence the whole world. I will also diminish the number of natural disasters that are happening.

You don't have to believe me. What I'm saying is not anything I dreamt up, but I have expereienced it. My compassion has a long way to go, but I do enjoy the effect of it growing within me and I especially like the results when the natural compassion that is truly me is the choice I make in a given situation where in the past, in a similar situation, I choose the reaction my ego imposed on that situation. When my ego rules, the situation always ends in regret, guilt.

Happiness and compassion are one and the same and possible to achieve in our life-time. "Why fly with the tiny wings of a sparrow when you could fly with the wings of an eagle." (Not my quote, I'm just passing it along).

4-11-12 Abundance

First, a quote: "The mystery of life is not in living it is in death."

My sharing in this blog is explaining what works for me.  In my effort to be nobody and to know nothing, I realized that what works for me and my understandings of the learning that has been sent my way is for me and my way of seeing. I only share it here on the chance there may be something of some value to someone else. I've also realized that I may have done some good deeds, but I sorely lack virtue.  My ego is still very much in play.  The happiness I'm reaching for cannot include my ego.

Today I want to re-write about 23 Palsms:

"1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

        What this means to me is, the Lord is quiding me, proctecting me and making sure I'm well in all ways, but, because I came to his human experience and the experience imposed an ego on me, I don't always want what my Lord is always and forever bestowing on me.;

2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
What this means to me is, the Lord is providing rest for me and showing me where peace of mind is.

3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
What this means to me is, the Lord is sending me resources, people and lessons for me to grow
spiritually for this life's experience and for all eternity.

4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
What this means to me is that this human experience with end in death, and as I look to God no evil can befall me because he is always with me, even when I don't believe he is.  My lord is my example and my mediator. His grace has been accomplished and I can rely on his grace in every situation I encounter.

5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
What this means to me is no matter what I'm thinking, complete abundance (protection, money, love, and the companionship of angels) is right in front of me.  I can choose at any minute to see this and seeing this is my guarantee.  It's my free will to not believe in this abundance, but it is there should I choose to believe. The part about anointing my head with oil speaks volumes of his love for me. My glass is not half full is it running over with love and abundance.  He still loves me even though I fall way short of my ability.

6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever"
To embrace this sentence with my full facilities is the sweetest most profound blessing of all!

If could spend the rest of my time of earth, this time around with this scripture clearly in my mind, all will be well with me.

Points to ponder 4-3-12

Five most important questions to ponder:

1. What is the meaning of human existence?

2. From where did human existence originate?

3. Whereto does human existence lead?

4. What is the true reality of human existence?

Scholars and holy men for centuries have been pondering these questions. I've come to believe that very few people ever ask themselves these questions.  Your individual happiness is all tied up with your answers to these questions.  The answers will be the difference between looking back on our life and knowing it meant something versus being spent in vain.  The difference between joy and regret.

Question regarding your identity 3-28-12

How do you identify and qualify yourself?  Big, strong, aggresive, petite, cute, sexy, intelligent, PHD, MS, BA, singer, songwriter, athlete, actor, bad-ass, beautiful, successful, mother, teacher, pilot, politician, general, etc. You see where I'm going with this. We all identify ourselves and qualify ourselves according to how well we do with our various labels. Have you ever considered looking at yourself as nothing and knowing nothing?  I'm going to consider it.  I am curious where my thinking and my actions will go by doing so.  I'll keep you posted.

Our labels are of this world. We are not.

Story about letting your life happen instead of always planning.

This story is about afarmer whose horse broke out of its corral and ran off.  When the farmer’s neighbors heard that his horse had run off, they cajoled, “how sad it was that his only horse ran off.”  The farmer just replied with, “Maybe.” The next morning the farmer’s horse returned with a herd of horses following him. Now the farmer had many horses in his corral.  His neighbors upon hearing the news exclaimed how wonderful for him that his horse brought back so many other horses.  The farmer again responded with, “maybe.”  The farmer’s son breaking one of the new horses was thrown and broke his leg.  His neighbors were quick to feel sorry for his son breaking his leg.  The farmer’s answer was, “Maybe.”  The next day the army was riding through the villages taking all the young men with them to join their army.  They did not take the farmer’s son because his leg was broken.  “How, wonderful that your son was not taken,” the neighbors exclaimed.  Again, the farmers’ reply was the same, “Maybe.”

3-07-12 Awareness

As you get better at looking within and taking responsibility for your own process for true happiness, you will begin to see the fruits of your willingness to correct your perception. It is imperative you pay attention to every moment of your day. There are unseen forces working for your happiness and you are being presented with lessons and answers everywhere you are. This will forever connect you to the universe around you and provide you with understandings the people in your life who are not undertaking this same process will not gain.

In order to take full advantage of this help, I find it is helpful to take moments away from the noise of the world. Turn off the radio or music while driving once in a while.  Sit outside on your proch or desk without taking your Ipod or smart phone with you.  Allow quite time just between you and those forces that are helping you.

When you sense the help and protection, you will feel happiness and love that cannot come from any other source.  This love will sustain you and bouy you up. Also, your appreciation for the sights and sounds you encounter will broaden your world.

There is peace in the wind.

2-14-12 Why do I do this?

Why do I perscribe to cultivation?  One time I read that Jesus said it is possible to live in the world with such peace that nothing will disbrub your peace.  Well, that just made sense to me and I had to make that happen for me.  I'm a long way from complete peace, but I have made progress and I more peaceful more of the time.

I have been extremely busy at work this last week covering for a couple of people and I allowed myself to generate stress over it.  It was a good test for me, but I knew all the while I was stressing that I did not have to react in that manner. I could have just gone with the flow and made the whole experience much nicer for myself and my co-workers. I was not a good example of cultivating happiness for myself.  I will do it better next time.

This world is a great place and also dangerous and scary place with the natural disasters, thieves, and all sorts of ciminals walking around. There is war and rumors of war, our government is not providing and proctecting us they way they could.  Lack of money, lack of good health, and diseases is enough to keep us all scared. All that I have just listed is why I cultivate peace and happiness inside of me. Within my true nature is the answer to all the fear in this world.  That is what is meant by living in this world, but not being of this world.  Not only is that a true statement for me but all of us it have within us the realm of possibility to live unafraid with the faith we are being provided for and protected by the force that runs the universe.

I have checked many fears off of my original list when I was not aware that I had the power to control what I feared.  I really works for me and for may others that I associate with. There are also many books to look to for advise and answers.

The five great sages: Buddha, Mohammad, Confucius, Lao Tse and in a class all his own, Jesus Christ have left behind many instructions on how to live our lives.  With the internet it is very easy to access many of the great books of instruction.

It’s just so human:

To think that this world is all there is

To eat drink and be merry cause when you die, that’s the end

To have low self esteem

To believe you are powerless to change yourself and the world

To be run around by your ego

To fear God

To live in any fear

To not be in control of your desires and emotions

To believe your body controls your health and aging

To hate everything that is different

To hate what you don’t understand

To believe that judging is productive and right

To fall prey and to be a victim

To not know you are worthy and full of promise

To believe there is no way out of your misery

This list could go on and on, but I am sure you get the gist of it. The answer to every problem is right behind it. The answer has already been given.

Cause and effect can be corrected to work for you.

The book stores are full of books written by people who have had life after death experiences and what their experience was.  Check it out.  Don't completely disregard the mystical.

Beauty 1-17-12

I was watching the Martha Stewart show this morning.  The show was on beauty and there was talk about how beauty comes from within, but only in reference to what we eat.  I wish there would be more talk about changing how beautiful we can be from within to changing how we think and what our perception of ourselves and the world around us.  To think productively, to let the past go, to stop being afraid of our future (although the world right now seems percarious); mainly to self-reflect and let that be the beginning of making real change from within.  True beauty does comes from within, but it is so much more that what we eat or what multivitimins we take, or the exercise we get.

There is a very rich industry on beauty products and advise.  There is also a lot of resources to help you find the way to within yourself. Trust me; when you start to go within, you may not like what you find, but go deeper to not only find your true beauty but the avenue to release it.

1-14-11 More on mindfullness

We spend hours worrying about our future, blaming ourselves and others for what we've done or not done to ourselves or what we blame others for what they did to us in the past and completely missing the present moment - the moment in which we actually have power to make real change in our lives.

Each minute we miss in our appointment with life is a missed opportunity to engage in life for the better and to experience true happiness.

To be mindfull is to be completely aware of all that is going on within ourselves and all that is happening around us, from moment to moment, without judgment or preconceived notions.

Thursday, January 5, 2012

I was listening to talk radio this morning on my drive to work which I had to shut off because it was sounding like a whole lot of useless noise.

This post is for me, because I have a lot of opinions and I always have had. I’m thinking my opinions are a manifestation of my ego. I am not operating from my true nature when I’m caught up in expressing an opinion or judgment. I have to choose which mind I want to go with; my human mind or my true mind. Since true happiness and my true self is only in my true/eternal mind, there is no contest. I choose my true/eternal mind.

I ask myself what was ever changed or accomplished because I had an opinion. I may have validated myself or thought I am impressing someone. The only person I can actually impress is me. There is no way I could ever know what it would take to impress anyone else.

I fully believe any change is going to happen by aligning myself with the true universe. Now, I must act on that belief. With each opinion my intent will be to let it go and to send an internal blessing in place of my opinion.

I’ll get back to you on my progress. The world operates on all sorts of opinions. I have never heard any two people agree that one persons opinion is a better opinion. There is no agreement in this arena. Please correct me if I am wrong.
